Transitions
Hello to my return journeyers. A warm welcome to my semi-constant journeyers. And, a very special welcome to my new journeyers.
I am so glad you’re here.
I am feeling the intensity of this seasonal transition a little more this year than in the past. It is the night before my 4-year-old daughter’s first day of ReWild Nature School, and I am feeling this shift in a big way. We lived our summer in the most enlivened, soul-filled way. It felt so incredible to live into the vital energy of summer and the joy that that sun, warmth, and a season of growth bring.
Right now, the sun is setting, and I can hear the bustle of the freeway that is all too close to my house. She’s fallen asleep on me, and as this moment slows down, I can deeply sense that the season is shifting. Summer has a fiery, upward and outward energy to it. Summer is expansive. As we spiral outwards in our evolutionary path of continual growth, we sometimes forget that we must also spiral back in.
As much as I love Fall, the shift inward is tricky for me.
In just a few weeks’ time, we enter the season that is dedicated to gathering and dying. My constant return journeyers, you won’t be surprised that here I am again, talking about dying and death.
We have moved around again along the wheel into the time of unravelling and letting go. All that grew to its full potential is now returning to Earth. We pick what we need and preserve it or store it. The rest, we release.
So many people who find their way into my healing room or workshops fall into trips and traps at this time of year. From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the sadness, grief, and loss that you feel with Autumn just around the corner is reflective of what this season is about. Release. Letting go. Endings. Dying.
Around the cycle, we go again.
If you haven’t already, it is invaluable to begin tracking your experiences on your own personal wheel. This will support you in practicing awake awareness and avoiding the pitfalls of this season. The intense feelings of joy and connection giving way to the whispers of loss and sadness must be sat with and felt. Being with the ending of a cycle is a profoundly powerful tool for walking through this life in an enlivened way.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I practice as a Contemporary Shamanic Practitioner with roots in Scandinavian, Norse, Celtic and Sami wisdom traditions. The offerings that I share are brought forward through my relationship with Spirit.
This is a beautiful time to journey for yourself and ask the following questions:
What am I dying unto?
What aspects of my life need to be released back to Earth?
What am I holding onto?
Is there a spirit helper that can support me through this season?
Journeying – the practice of entering an altered state of consciousness – is accessible to you at this very moment.
I hope that you journey and ask these questions, and perhaps I will see you as the season shifts in one of my upcoming workshops or retreats.
As always, thank you for your kind attention.
Until we meet again in this time, this place, this space, happy journeying.
